A panel discussion on how Dartmouth and national observers are working to assess, support, and strengthen the campus climate for free expression.
How free is expression at Dartmouth today—and how can we tell? In recent years, the campus climate for speech has come under sharper scrutiny from students, faculty, alumni, and the public. This panel brings together Dartmouth leaders and a national voice on campus expression to explore how the College is working to understand and improve the environment for open dialogue, respectful disagreement, and academic freedom.
Panel:
Jennifer Rosales, Senior Vice President for Community and Campus Life;
Samuel Levey, Assistant Dean of Faculty for Arts and Sciences; and
Conor Murnane, Program Officer at the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression (FIRE).
Together, they will discuss internal tools Dartmouth uses to gather insight, FIRE’s national free speech rankings and methodology, and how both internal and external evaluations can inform real progress.
